The 2024 International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) brought a wave of accolades for the Winelands! Out of nearly 7,000 wines entered, 36 South African wines struck gold, with three going on to win prestigious IWSC trophies. Two of these awards went to Vilafonté in Stellenbosch, with vineyards in Simonsberg-Paarl, and one to Perdeberg Cellar in Paarl.
The trophy-winning wines include Vilafonté’s red blends, the Cabernet Sauvignon-led Series C 2019 and the Malbec-led Series M 2019, as well as Perdeberg’s Endura Single Vineyard Chenin Blanc 2022.
Vilafonté received the highest honour as Outstanding Wine Producer along with the Red Wine Producer Trophy, while Perdeberg was awarded the IWSC Old Vine Trophy.
These accomplishments not only celebrate South African winemaking excellence, but also highlight the exceptional quality coming from our local vineyards. Cheers to Vilafonté and Perdeberg for raising the bar in the world of wine!
