This spring, there’s a new reason to linger a little longer at Stellenbosch Square. The centre has unveiled a striking new hanging flower installation, transforming its entrances into canopies of colour and creativity.
Suspended above the walkways, the floral installations bring the freshness of spring indoors – reflecting a season of celebration, renewal and the local charm of art in Stellenbosch. Each bloom adds to an atmosphere that feels both uplifting and inspiring, turning an everyday visit into something a little more special.
Art and design have long been part of Stellenbosch Square’s identity. Drawing inspiration from its surroundings and the town’s rich history, the centre’s icon building situated on the fountain piazza takes its shape from the elegant arum lily – a flower known to grow in the region. Entering the courtyard, guests are greeted by playful oversized pig sculptures that honour Stellenbosch’s deep farming heritage. This thoughtful blend of natural forms and artistic expression mirrors the town’s creative spirit and serves as a gentle reminder of its agricultural heritage.
The vision behind the installations was brought to life through creative collaboration. The floral displays were crafted by Miabella, while Cecilia Steinberg created the delicate butterflies and bees that dance among the blooms. The project was curated and facilitated by Liné Knoetze of Dorpstraat, whose creative direction helped transform the concept into the striking installation now brightening the centre.
