SA Cheese Festival 2022 returns with four pop-up picnics

The award-winning SA Cheese Festival returns after two years. Cheese and wine lovers can look forward to a brand-new experience – a month-long journey of pop-up picnics.

A series of four SA Cheese Festival pop-up picnics will take place over four weekends in April 2022 at four popular destinations. Come and experience how this popular festival unfolds into an expedition of discovery with a winning recipe of quality.

At every pop-up picnic, a variety of exhibitors will offer everything you need for a picnic adventure: from picnic baskets to local, international, and artisanal cheeses; selected wine; craft beer and gin; and exceptional artisanal foods and local products. Visitors can also look forward to free entertainment programmes with top South African artists, tasting demonstrations and other interesting activities.

At Warwick

The farm’s rich history, dating back to 1771, creates a special visitor experience. Picnic lovers like to escape to Warwick for lawn picnics en knowledgeable sommeliers. Expect a variety of exhibitors with wines from the vicinity, as well as cheese, beer, gin, and other picnic delicacies.

At Benguela Cove

Benguela Cove truly deserves its motto as the coolest destination. With panoramic views of the lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean, Benguela also offers fun activities for young and old. Here, you can even learn the art of Sabrage – opening a bottle of bubbly with a curved blade.

At Groote Post

Groote Post is a historic 18th century farm on the West Coast where you can enjoy wines that reflect the uniqueness of the region’s vineyards. Cue country hospitality, exhibitors with delicious cheese and other delicacies, award-winning wines from Groote Post and surrounding wine farms, as well as craft beer and gin.

At Sandringham

Experience a picnic next to the beautiful dams at Sandringham outside Stellenbosch while enjoying a variety of interesting cheese, food and drinks exhibitors and an all-round fun day out in the great outdoors. Note that only 2,000 tickets are available per day at Sandringham.

Secure your spot

Tickets cost R350 per person per day with visiting times from 10:00 to 18:00. Tickets are available at Webtickets as well as at Pick n Pay stores. No tickets will be sold at the gates. Only a limited number of tickets are available at each venue and strict Covid-19 protocols will apply.
