Lanzerac celebrates 330 years of history

On Heritage Day, 24 September 2022, Lanzerac remembers 330 years of history while raising a glass to the future. Book now for a seat at the estate’s long table for an abundant feast of food and wine, take pleasure in a student art exhibition courtesy of Marie Stander, and immerse yourself in the music of the Stellenbosch Philharmonic Orchestra.

Lanzerac is steeped in spellbinding history… Having been established in 1692 – a mere 13 years after Stellenbosch itself – it’s the third oldest farm in the area. The first owner was Isaac Schrijver who planted the very first vineyards, and unsurprisingly, named the farm Schoongezicht, meaning wonderful view.

In the early 1800s, the first cellar was erected and subsequently complemented by the iconic manor house, which, with its main gable dating back to 1830, exhibits an unusually high level of sophistication for Cape Dutch architecture of the period.

On 24 September 2022, the estate celebrates its heritage in true Lanzerac style. Guests will be transported to a place of opulence, legacy and historic charm, while enjoying a feast prepared by executive chef Stephen Fraser and paired with the finest Lanzerac wines chosen by cellar master Wynand Lategan.
