The new BMW iX3 is the first car built on BMW’s Neue Klasse platform, a name the brand last used in the 1960s, when it rebuilt itself from scratch and came out the other side as the BMW we know today. And now, sixty years later, the iX3 carries the same significance. This is the vehicle meant to set the tone for everything electric that follows. BMW calls it a “flow zone.” Settle into the spacious and inviting cabin. The layout remains driver-focused and the interplay of light, sound, material and colours maximise on-board pleasure. The experience is further enhanced by the optional large Panoramic Sunroof with climate comfort glass.
There’s also a quieter story in the materials. About a third of what’s used inside the iX3 is recycled or reused, all the way down to the floor panelling and the seat covers.

The tech centrepiece is the BMW Panoramic iDrive, the first of its kind, and it works because it doesn’t split your attention across four different screens. Instead, it brings four elements together.
BMW Panoramic Vision runs driving information across the full width of the bottom of the windscreen, visible to everyone in the car, not just the driver. The Central Display is easy to reach, intuitive and adaptable, showing only what’s relevant in the moment. The Multifunctional Steering Wheel carries touch sliders and haptic feedback, illuminating only when relevant. And the BMW 3D Head-Up Display puts the essentials, speed, navigation, warnings, right in your line of sight. Together, the four stop feeling like separate systems.
Information turns up where you need it, when you need it, and the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant is there as standard. CarPlay and Android Auto are both supported, connecting your smartphone to the new BMW iX3 with the same ease as everything else on board.
Game Charger
None of this means much if the car doesn’t move well, and this one does. BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive tech gets the iX3 50 xDrive up to 805 km on a single charge. But the notion worth mentioning is a change in approach rather than in spec: for the first time, BMW has tuned its driving character, powertrain software and dynamics systems as one system instead of several bolted together. They’re calling it BMW Heart of Joy.
You feel it in how quickly the car responds, and how little it makes you work for that response. BMW Symbiotic Drive, paired with the driver assistance systems, means the gap between deciding to steer or brake and the car actually doing it shrinks to almost nothing.
A Neue Klasse of Confidence
The first Neue Klasse era changed what BMW looked like, this one changes what it feels like. The iX3 keeps its design clean: sharp front geometry, hidden door handles, an optional Iconic Glow kidney grille with a welcome light-up animation. Precise lines frame a strong shoulder section before settling into an elegant rear light signature, and familiar proportions carrying an entirely new impression.
