Babylonstoren’s olive trees thrive in sunny, loamy soils on the slopes of the Simonsberg Mountain near Franschhoek. Here, olives are harvested to ensure the highest quality, then crushed and tinned on the farm. From 13 cultivars grown on the farm, Babylonstoren craft three extra virgin olive oils: a single-variety Frantoio, a single-variety Coratina as well as a premium blend.

The single-variety Frantoio is a delicate oil with layers of creaminess and notes of green grass, almonds, wildflowers and green apple. It’s best savoured with fresh fruit, roasted vegetables, fish or swirled into double cream yoghurt. The Coratina is renowned for its potently expressive character with a fruity, tangy taste and bitter undertone. It stands up well to bold umami flavours like mushrooms and steak. The blue-tinned blend of oils has an aroma that varies from green and leafy to fruity and is a great choice for everyday cooking and eating. On the palate are fruity, herby, peppery notes with subtle florals.

Each of these pure olive oils is unique. All three are exceptional.
