What started out as four friends wanting to showcase small producers and start-up artisans’ work, has now grown to be South Africa’s largest pop-up retail phenomenon: KAMERS/Makers.
This year marks KAMERS/Makers 20th birthday, creating the perfect opportunity for like-minded creatives to come together and celebrate two decades of excellence, including more than 60 hosted shows, 18 national venues, more than 1000 entrepreneurs, over half a million visitors, and more than 3000 created job opportunities.
KAMERS/Makers kicks off their landmark year under the 300 year-old oaks at well-known host, Blaauwklippen Estate in Stellenbosch, from 29 March to 2 April 2023
Manager at Blaauwklippen, Grethe Kruger, shares the estate is proud to be associated with such an established platform for creative individuals. She boasts with Blaauwklippen’s beautiful scenery that accompanies a blissful shopping experience in the heart of the vineyards. And what better way to roam among stalls of creativity than with a fine glass of Blaauwklippen Zinfandel Cap Classique in hand!
The KAMERS/Makers Autumn show will feature over 170 entrepreneurs, of which about 40 are brand new, never before seen creatives — selling everything from food to fashion, skincare to ceramics, decor, jewellery, homeware, wine, craft gin, fine art, etc.
Along with the entrepreneurs’ stalls, KAMERS/Makers is also featuring their popular art galleries, showcasing more fine art and sculpture to guests and shoppers in an approachable and affordable way.
KAMERS/Makers continues to be and provide a platform where small entrepreneurs with big dreams can come together with a common goal — sharing their creative talent with individuals and communities that will notice and appreciate it. The annual pop-up phenomenon is much more than a market selling craftwork, it’s an event that celebrates creativity, originality and community in the best and most beautiful way possible.
