A Legacy of Style: 50 Years of Polo South Africa

At this year’s Stellenbosch Visio Women’s Brunch Event, Polo South Africa treated guests to an exclusive shopping experience and a style talk by fashion editor Jackie Burger, inspiring festive-season fashion with elegance and ease.

Established in 1976, Polo South Africa was founded by the late Gordon Joffe. It started as a men’s shirting brand with a factory in Cape Town that became renowned for the finest quality shirts. With the success of the Lounge shirt in the early 80’s, Polo then expanded into womenswear and kid’s collections.

The Brand focus has always been on high quality fabrics and a timeless style. The philosophy is to create long-lasting wardrobe pieces that are versatile and transcends fast fashion.

Today Polo has 25 flagship stores across the country and it has become a leading South African lifestyle brand that includes men’s, women’s, kid’s, homeware and accessories.

The brand continues its commitment to social and environmental projects and local production. Most recently through the Polo Purpose initiative it has embraced South African Merino Wool in its winter collections. Next year Polo celebrates its 50th anniversary year and it looks forward to unveiling some exciting projects…
