Eikestadnuus presents: A day celebrating inspirational women @Zaros Olive Estate – 24 October 2019

Eikestadnuus will be honouring one inspirational woman from our town as part of their Vroue Inspirasie Dag, held on October 24 at the Zarose Olive Estate in Devon Valley. This year the theme is “Gratitude” and women from Stellenbosch are invited to come and enjoy this day with celebrities in the entertainment and hospitality industry. The day is presented for the benefit of the Hanna Foundation and one inspirational woman from the community will also be honoured at the event for her work in the community.


International Kite Festival @Zandvlei Nature Reserve – 26 to 27 October 

See some of the world’s most spectacular kites ‘Let Hope Fly’ at the 25th Cape Town International Kite Festival in Muizenberg on 26 and 27 October.

Enjoy fresh-air family fun that’s good for mind and body, and support Cape Mental Health, South Africa’s oldest mental health charity.

There’ll be free kite-making workshops, live entertainment, stalls and rides – plenty to keep the whole family happily entertained. Pack a picnic or take your pick of festival fare from the many food trucks. This will be the 25th edition of the annual flying fiesta, with kiters from Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Turkey, the UK and South Africa flying their incredible kites, to promote mental wellness and help prevent depression and suicide.


Hidden Valley Wine Walk @ Hidden Valley Wines – 26 October

Take a walk through the Hidden Valley nature trail and taste 6 of the local wines at hidden stations along the way. All whilst admiring the breath-taking gardens & indigenous forest. Explore the gems & discover the secrets amongst the treasures found in our hidden valley. The route consists of a 3km moderate walk, note that it is not suitable for prams or children under 7 years.

Yoga And Wine Summer Series @ Warwick Wine Estate – 26 October

Warwick Wine Estate will be hosting an exciting and unique Summer Wellness Series which will add joy and relaxation to your weekends.

Situated in the Simonsberg mountain range, the estate offers breathtaking views of the natural landscape which makes it perfect for a fun day out.

Grab your friends and family and join Warwick on the day for 1 hour of Vinyasa flow yoga, 30 minutes of meditation, a picnic basket (choice between vegan, vegetarian & meat) and wine-tasting. All ages over 18 & all fitness levels welcome.


Intermediate MTB Clinic @ Dirtopia – 27 October

Take your riding to the next level with confidence, to ride smoother and faster. Learn how to master those tricky corners, rocky sections and more. You will have the opportunity to ask the instructor anything you like – David Hogan has tons of experience! The clinic lasts three hours that starts with a talk and then riders get to have a go on the trails with individual attention. Limited bookings available: R400 includes a goody bag, VAT, permit and of course, some new riding skills.

Waterford Sunset Session featuring Ard Matthews @Waterford – 25 October

Join South African rock sensation Ard Matthews for an intimate sunset session in Waterford’s courtyard this Friday.

Ard is now playing regularly as a solo act, as well as still fronting the original Just Jinjer, with many well known and talented musicians joining him on bass guitar and drums on an ad-hoc and dynamic basis, at well-known festivals such as Oppikoppi and Rocking The Daisies festival in Darling, Cape Town.

Bottomless Coffee @Drostdy Theatre – 24 October

Bottomless Coffee Band is a multi-instrumental, alternative duo consisting of married couple Lourens and Este Rabe from Cape Town, South Africa.

The sound is a combination of folk and rock with hints of classical tones. Their latest songs tell the stories of living life to the full; love, disappointments, inequality, passion, tears, joy, time and memories. Anthelia was release in South Africa in February 2018 and toured in Namibia in May 2018 with an 8 show sell-out tour across the country. It was also launched and release with a 4 show tour in the United Kingdom during September 2018.
