Firmly in the heart of winter, now is the time to try some gourmet soups, grab your friends for some icy brews at the Winterfest Beer Festival, and run off the week’s worries at Stellies Shakeout. This weekend in the Winelands offers an exciting mix of events, activities and happenings to enjoy.
RUNNING
Stellies Shakeout @ Coetzenberg Centre – 18 July 2019
Stellies Shakeout is a social trail running mini-event that takes place every Thursday. The aim is for like-minded people to run together in the mountains around Stellenbosch, safely and at their own speed. Slow, medium and fast groups depart from the Coetzenberg Centre staircase at 17h30 and meet back at 18h30 for a beer, cold drink or some water. The focus is social so runners often stay behind to chat and meet new people.
There are no subscriptions or fees attached to Stellies Shakeout, and anyone who is interested is welcome and try it out.
HIKING
Wine Walk @ De Zalze Lodge – 20 July 2019
Starting and finish at Dirtopia Cafe, Delvera Farm, this is a social walk through the estate vineyards to Warwick Wine Estate followed by wine-tasting afterwards. Coffee, breakfast and snacks are provided at registration and then the group heads back for lunch at Dirtopia Café. It is recommended to take good walking shoes, a backpack with water, a hat, jacket and water bottle. This is a relaxed event with lots of socializing so that you can enjoy the vineyards, Wineland scenery and Stellenbosch outdoors.
