Spier Winter Trail Runs
Spier Wines, in partnership with Quantum Adventure Events, will host its winter trail run series on Sunday 14 July. The event includes 5km and 10km timed races plus a 3km fun run for those who prefer a slower pace. The route winds through the estate’s green pastures and rolling vineyards, promising epic views as you race to the finish line. Food and drinks will be available from the Spier Wine Farm Kitchen and spot prizes are up for grabs. Please note that no pets are allowed on the trails.

3km: R30.00 pre-entries; R40 for late entries..
5km: R60.00 for pre-entries; R80 for late entries.

Ask the Winemaker: Shiraz with Johan Malan
The latest event in Simonsig’s Ask the Winemaker Series is devoted to all things shiraz. Expand your wine knowledge and deepen your appreciation of this noble cultivar at an informal tasting conducted by Director of Wine, Johan Malan. From the full-bodied Mr Borio’s Shiraz to the exclusive Heirloom Shiraz 2017, the selection promises to be a taste sensation. This is a rare opportunity for local wine aficionados to enjoy some of Simonsig’s finest wines with an expert on hand to answer any and all wine-related questions. The event starts at 14:00 on Friday 12 July and lasts approximately 2 hours.

“Let’s Talk About Cancer” Talks at Longridge Wine Estate
Longridge Wine Estate, a leading estate in organic winemaking, is currently hosting a 15-part series of talks by survivors and those treating survivors on how to prevent, survive and thrive after cancer. The series, named “Let’s Talk About Cancer”, will provide real testimonies of insight and hope in this often confusing and scary topic. This Monday 15 July, Longridge recommencing the ‘Lets Talk about Cancer’ series with talk number 6 – the second part on learning the do’s and don’ts surrounding cancer and food.
Dr Janey Little, renowned holistic cancer practitioner, speaker and author of Cancer … You Can Heal Yourself, will co-host interactive talks alongside 10 cancer survivors and a handful of experts at the estate over 15 Monday nights. With a background in conventional veterinary medicine and 22 years experience in the UK and South Africa, Dr Janey is known for conducting talks, workshops and private consultations with cancer patients around the world.
Each talk will be combined with a creative and delicious “Longridge Live Well” meal designed every week by resident chef Maritz Jacobs.
Tickets are available at the restaurant at Longridge Wine Estate for R50 per person, R200 for a 5-talk voucher and pensioners can join for free. The LIVE WELL Dinner, before or after the talk, will be R130 per person.
