Pilates to stay flexible and fit at home

Pilates has been shown to improve your mood and decrease feelings of depression, anxiety and stress. The effects of exercise on mood are so powerful that choosing to exercise (or not) even makes a difference over short periods. Pilates can help improve your skin’s appearance, help you lose weight and keep it off, it makes you feel happier and help you sleep better.

But now, even those who wanted to make it to the gym may have found their local branch has closed as a precautionary measure, so how can you get in your workouts while stuck at home?

We’ve been chasing home our fitness goals by streaming pilates classes from Stellenbosh physiotherapist Marzanne Swanepoel on weekday mornings. It really adds an extra dimension when you are in “live” contact with a knowledgable instructor to guide you through the session.

You can join in too, just follow this Zoom link to download the previous HHIT Pilates class and login on weekday mornings just before 8:30AM for the live stream of that day’s class.
