With dramatic mountain scenery and fields of fynbos in flower, Kogelberg Nature Reserve already spells romance. Now a beautifully styled honeymoon suite makes the reserve an irresistible destination for lovers. By Magriet Kruger
The Palmiet Honeymoon Studio is a newly revamped hideaway for lovebirds. The cabin has been conceived as a haven for couples in search of restful seclusion. The open-flow layout is perfect for spending quality time together, whether unwinding in the lounge with an eye on the mountains or cooking up a romantic meal.
The bedroom area is positioned for the most breathtaking views. Lie in bed with the sliding doors open and you’ll feel as if you’re reclining in the great outdoors. A huge wrap-around deck offers spaces for slowing down in the company of your loved one, as well as a table where you can enjoy alfresco meals à deux. The kitchen is equipped with modern appliances while in the private bathroom, a large tub invites indulgent soaks.
A stylish sanctuary
This idyllic couple’s retreat has been stylishly furnished by the Craft and Design Institute. Paying tribute to the reserve’s mountain fynbos, bespoke wallpaper features indigenous plants. A picturesque way of bringing the outside in.
Soft furnishings in shades of green complement the natural materials used inside the studio. Vibrant yellow bedside lamps provide a fun pop of colour. The décor inside the honeymoon suite offers a sneak peek of what you can expect from the interiors of Kogelberg’s new eco-cabins.
Rekindle the romance
A stay in the Palmiet Studio is ideal for pressing pause on the outside world and focusing on each other instead. There’s no connectivity here, so there’s no risk you will be disturbed by your phone. The cabin is also orientated away from the other accommodation units to offer you sought-after privacy.
There’s plenty to do without venturing afield. You could practise couple’s yoga on the expansive deck or have a private picnic on the lawn. Take a plunge in the all-natural eco-pool, pamper yourself with a shared bath or simply put your feet up in the lounge and drink in the scenery.
But this part of the world has a magnetic pull and you will be tempted to explore. Don’t miss out on the host of activities in the reserve and surrounds.
