Now that’s a clever idea!

The latest issue of Stellenbosch Visio has an interesting story on LaunchLab – the business accelerator hub based at Stellenbosch University. We’re excited about their Ideas Programme Pitching Platform. Participants stand a chance of winning their share of R100 000, which they can use as seed funding to further develop their business ideas.

This programme is open to all aspiring and practising entrepreneurs from student and non-student communities who have innovative business ideas that are viable and could provide solutions to business and social challenges. This semester we are specifically looking for ideas in the following focus areas: Payments and Big Data, Paid Media, Cleantech, Agritech, Edutech and anything exceptional. For more information on how these verticals are defined, visit www.launchlab.co.za/verticals.

Participants can pitch their ideas at participating institutions around the Western Cape, namely Stellenbosch University (SU), the University of the Western Cape (UWC) and the University of Cape Town (UCT), as well as at the participating Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) College, False Bay College (FBC).

The pitches are video recorded and go through a judging round whereby finalists are chosen to pitch at the final event, which will be hosted at the Nedbank Stellenbosch University LaunchLab on 14 October 2015. The Nedbank Stellenbosch University LaunchLab was opened in March this year and is proudly sponsored and supported by the Department of Trade and Industry, Stellenbosch University, Nedbank and Innovus, the industry interaction and innovation company of Stellenbosch University.

The Pitching Platform video pitches will be recorded as follows.

  • False Bay College (Westlake Campus) –  Westlake Hall – 15 and 23 September 2015
  • Stellenbosch University – Nedbank Stellenbosch University LaunchLab – 16 and 21 September 2015
