Aspire Art: collect art online with only a click

Welcoming the change of colours of the new season, Aspire Art presents SHADES: Autumn 22, a timed online art auction taking place until 26 April 2022. The collection offers a strong selection of exceptional and innovative works by local art world favourites for easy collecting.

New and seasoned collectors are spoiled for choice with this large-scale specially curated sale showcasing a wide range of contemporary art alongside more historic pieces in a variety of mediums. With nearly 200 lots, the collection spotlights prevalent topics that artists and audiences engage with. Most notably, the stylistic influences of abstraction.

Other highlighted categories include the exploration of places and people as seen in landscapes, cityscapes and interior renderings as well as figure studies and portraiture, the meaning of words found in text-based pieces, the objects of sculptural works and the things chosen for still life studies.

Discover and easily bid on works by celebrated artists such as David Koloane, Dumeli Feni, Cecil Skotnes, Walter Battiss, William Kentridge, Jane Alexander, Diane Victor, Norman Catherine, Willie Bester, Penny Siopis and Brett Murray. Contemporary stars include Nelson Makamo, Jake Aikman, Patrick Bongoi, Adolf Tega, Jody Paulsen, Mbongeni Buthelezi and William Chechet.

Not to be missed, are works by Lady Skollie and Asanda Kupa as well as pieces by Nigerian artist Silas Adelanke Adeoye and Jean-Baptiste Djeka from the Ivory Coast – appearing on auction in South Africa for the first time. Also included in the collection is a range of signed William Kentridge posters for those interested in special art memorabilia.
