From a gentle bird-watching hike at Helderberg Nature Reserve to conquering the super endurance “Bonecrusher” route at Darling Brew, there is something for every type of outdoor enthusiast to enjoy this weekend.
The leaves start changing colour, the sun rises later, and it cools down at night. Autumn is a wonderful time of year to enjoy the colourful scenery in the Winelands.

My Run @ Knorhoek Estate – 26 May 2019
MyRun is a free weekly fitness events that is accessible to everyone and is held every Sunday morning at 8am (registration is from 7:30am)
Every registered participant will be issued with a unique timing band and results can be checked after each myrun event.
We offer a 2.5km and 5km route which can either be walked or run, we are also pram and dog-friendly.
Discovery Vitality members that participate at our Myrun event will be awarded with up to 300 Vitality points.
After the run stop for coffee or breakfast and browse the weekly farmers market stalls.
DBX2019 Mountain Bike Challenge @Darling
The DBX2019 mountain bike challenge returns for the sixth consecutive year on Saturday, 25 May 2019. One of the most anticipated single-day races in the Western Cape, DBX2019 takes place in Darling with all four routes beginning and ending at Darling Brew.
Entrants can choose their challenge, with routes ranging from the scenic 15km ‘Slow Beer’ in and around the quaint town of Darling to the super endurance 80km ‘Bone Crusher’ which follows cattle trails, jeep tracks and farm roads to take you through vineyards, olive orchards and fynbos trails.
An exciting new addition to DBX2019 this year is the 62kms Pixie Dust Duo X. Limited to 100 riders, this 64kms – 30kms (cycle), 12kms (run), 22kms (cycle), will be a first for DBX2019 and the organisers are looking forward to people’s response to it. DBX2019 truly has something for everyone, from experienced MTB enthusiasts to novices and youngsters.
Wine Walk to Warwick @Warwick Wine Estate – 25 May 2019
This is a fun social walk starting at Delvera, through the beautiful vineyards to Warwick Wine Estate where you can taste their top-class wines. Coffee & breakfast snack at registration and you’ll be be back in time for lunch at Dirtopia Café. Remember good walking shoes, backpack with water, hat, snack (if you like), jacket and of course water bottle. This is a relaxed event with lots of socializing so that you can enjoy the vineyards, Wineland scenery and Stellenbosch outdoors.
The Trail Centre will be open early for snacks and cold drink sales. Please note that any drinks before, during or after lunch is for your own account. Coffee and full bar available from Dirtopia Café. Credit card, cash, snapscan and zapper facilities available.
Venue: Start and finish at Dirtopia Cafe, Delvera Farm, R44, Stellenbosch
Time: For registration and coffee from 08h00, so that we can start the walk by 8h30/45 and will be back by 11h15/30 for lunch at Dirtopia Cafe
Distance: Approximately 6km
Cost: R250 per person. Kids U18 R150 and will receive juice instead of wine

Bird Walk @ Helderberg Nature Reserve – 26 May 2019
Guided by Jill Mortimer. The walk lasts about 3 hours and is in the lower area of the reserve and not strenuous. Meet at the Visitor Centre at 07:45.
Wear proper walking shoes, bring a sun hat, camera, binoculars, water and a snack.
