Food for all

AFTER 20 YEARSin the restaurant business, and the last seven at Red Pepper Catering, Dawid Kriel can honestly say that all this time he’s been following his passion for food, wine and people. And it’s this passion that has been the driving force behind every new challenge and project he has set in motion.

Having founded a new home – or rather, kitchen – at the Oude Libertas Centre, Dawid confirms that he knows how to have fun with food, from the hob to the job.

Red Pepper Catering specialises in corporate and private events, weddings, product launches, house parties and office occasions. The company also makes home-cooked meals, with quiches and stuffed breads a speciality. Quality, style, attention to detail, value for money and, above all, exceptional delivery are not negotiable – and it shows.

After running the family business, Volkskombuis Restaurant, for almost 20 years, Dawid and his wife, Christelle, left in 2012 to take over this catering venture from Dawid’s sister, Marle Fourie. Since then they have also started an event management company, Diamant Collection, at the Diamant Estate in Paarl.

“This is an exciting business,” says Dawid, “and really an opportunity to live our dream of everything hospitality. We offer a variety of beautiful venues for different occasions, from weddings and cocktail parties to product launches and conferences. We can even accommodate 24 guests in two recently refurbished guesthouses. And we provide all the catering.”

The success of any business depends on its support team, and Dawid acknowledges that his team is very dedicated. “Some of them have worked with us for the past 20 years,” he says. “Our head chef, Wikus Potgieter, recently joined us as our new business partner and we are excited about expanding in the near future.”  V
