This weekend saw the unstoppable Maroon Machine march forth as Paul Roos Gymnasium clinically dismantled a strong Paarl Gymnasium side. This has cemented PRG firmly in the No. 1 spot on the current SA School Sports First XV Top 100 Rankings.
PRG have been sitting in the number one spot since the first publishing of the rankings this season, and are now widely considered the most dominant school rugby team in the country. There is still a lot of rugby to played this season, of course, and the big annual clash with Grey College looms enticingly before the curtains are drawn on the season. The final positions for the year are yet to be decided, but all signs point to Paul Roos’s 2018 team being an extraordinary unit that will prove difficult to beat for any first XV.
Grey College is also unbeaten and currently sits in second place after handing Boishaai their first defeat to local opposition for three seasons, making their upcoming clash with Paul Roos later this year on the 18th of August a truly mouthwatering proposition.
